The Kai Koopas are treated like God's by the other Koopa Species, to help facilitate peace between the Koopas and the Yoshis, a measure of peace and trust must be established. Hookbill Castle is in an uproar as the theft of Daimyo Hookbill, the leader of the Kol Koopas (the most common subspecies of Koopa that consists of the Koopa Troopas and Parakoopas) is left in distress, the Daimyo's infant daughter Softshell was kidnapped and the cause of blame points to the Koopeleon Clan, a lost village of Kol Koopas that cross-bred themselves with Yoshis and have developed natural camouflage and stealth capabilities. Visiting the Koopeleon Monastery we find out that Baby Softshell was actually taken by a camp of Bandits along with many other Koopa children from both the Koopeleons and the Kols with the intent of increasing contracts for Bandit Mercenaries employed by Majordomo Kamek. More importantly however is the fact that Kai Koopa Bowser and Softshell were close friends and playmates, saving the baby Kol Koopa would go a long way into earning the trust of Majordomo Kamek that the Yoshis and Baby Mario mean peace...

I was not perpared for this incredibly well thought about and very complex backstory. I respect it, but would have to say I have no idea how to implement this. Though I will say I am open to chat about it in the future in pms, discord, telegram, and the like.
