In 1959 there was an expedition to the Cholat Sjachl in the Ural Mountains when all of the wanderers were dying under mysterious circumstances. It is believed that the hikers lost their minds in the process of hypothermia. Several bodies were found with broken bones.
According to the investigation report, the clothes were radioactively contaminated.
There are several theories about the deaths of the men. These range from an avalanche, to nuclear weapons testing, to the KGB.
