No question about it.
Nurth was still getting fatter. But honestly, he couldn't bring himself to be all that upset about it.
His belly dragged against the ground more forcefully than ever, nearly defeating the tenuous traction from his claws. The cave walls tugged greedily at his sides, even as he finally scrabbled into the daylight.
Nurth's growing handicaps were putting him at more than a simple disadvantage... especially where a 'proper' dragon was concerned. Rebelling notions sometimes nagged at his subconscious. He might never fly again. He might become too helpless to move.
But for the moment, he could still bask in the sun. He had a village of humans who adored the very earth he crushed beneath his paws. And any moment, Frissura would be back with second breakfast.
Life was good.
