A MerMay commission for @redrivermerman on IG! This is the third year in a row that he's commissioned a portrait of himself for MerMay; suffice to say, Merman Tristan is incredibly supportive and always a pleasure to work with, so I've definitely started to look forward to working on his annual MerMay commission each year!
Since Merman Tristan is currently in the throes of moving cities, he asked me to include themes of travel and adventure in this particular piece. Considering how cooped up everyone was in 2020, I think all of us would benefit from a healthy dose of exploration in 2021 and in the years to come—emphasis on healthy, though 😉 I recently got back from my first post-vaxx vacay and I'd almost forgotten how refreshing (and necessary) travel can be for one's peace of mind.
