1 out of 3 images in this set
A graphic interpretation of one of the images that have been a direct result not of a working imagination or clever skill, but of a peculiar sleep disorder that I have been afflicted with during my childhood - a disorder, where a part of my brain would continue conjuring up a ghastly, alien image despite me waking up and walking all over house in a futile attemp to flush it out of my head.
Although image depicted on my painting wasn't the first one to occur (an 'honour' reserved for something that looked like a black & white cutaway through a horizontally positioned trunk of a tornado), it had just enough content to be worth working on. Phantasm had a form of a pillowy squiggle bathed in light akin to a 'snow' on an old tv set whenever it loses its signal. The humanoid entity at the front wasn't a part of a memory - it is a graphic interpretation of a phenomenon that accompanied each of those awake dreams - a sensation of each nerve in the skin rapidly expanding outwards with the flesh, giving the impression of a vastly enlarged body that could be nonetheless moved without impairment - as if its whole mass was dispersing.
