Hmmm.. That's new..

Replaced the low beam headlight bulbs on my friends Mazda 3 this afternoon and found this.. I have never in my life seen a bulb do this when it goes out. The other one was the same but still working.

Edit: I didn't touch the bulb. This is how it came out of the car. Just weird cause I have never seen it.

In theatrical lighting, it's often the cause of impurities left on the surface of the glass; natural oils from fingers etc.

That is what happens when you touch the bulb with your bare hands. The oil from your fingers actually heats the glass and melts it. Always use latex gloves when fingering High temp bulbs.

Yep. As was said, this is what happens when you touch the glass with your bare fingers. You should see what happens to HIDs. XD Kaboom.

@_@ not that I'm implying that it blew because of you, but the next bulb you put into your car. DO NOT TOUCH IT WITH YOUR FINGERS!
Instead put it in with a clean dry cloth, oil on fingers could cause this... I think.

I think so. The car only has 65k miles on it, so I'm assuming it was factory. Were in there when he got the car. They used to be Silverstar Ultras.

yea probably factory. it funny i changed headlight bulbs in my truck yesterday and you changed bulbs on a mazda lol.

im guessing when they factory intalled the headlights someone there touched the bulbs

since they didnt blow yet id think you would be fine. as long as your sure you didnt touch the lamp of the bulb your find
