Here is a general overview of each furrisk culture's style of soldier:
Homeflock: Fancy as hell. Armor and weapons come from a selection of atleast 100 "standard" designs. Mostly use bullet firing guns. Citizens generally use traditional melee weapons cause bullets and guns are reserved for the royal army. Most soldiers either paint and carve patterns into their own armor or hire an artisan to do it for them. If you think they only decorate armor and weapons, you are sorely mistaken. You will probably find lavish cushions inside of their tanks. Sword for style (and for honorably executing naughty POWs, So please behave like a good little prisoner and calmly sip tea in your cushion filled quarters while we make room on our flower plantation just for you and the whole population of your hometown). A solider is the holiest thing you could be second to the empress herself. Generals have some degree of psychic ability that they use for strategy and for issuing commands. It is okay to flirt with your superiors.
Sa-Za: Highly standardized. If you are important enough, you get a cape. Goes through military training since birth regardless if they become a soldier or not. "Every hatchling with a spear". Even civilians go through combat drills from time to time. Melee weapons is a last resort (and has a lethal electric charge for that extra fuck you). Even small arms fire is explosive. The insides of Sa-Za ships are covered with explosion-resistant panels, so don't expect them to hold back if you somehow manage to board them. AAAAA EXPLODING LASERS!!! On top of that, the lazers can either explode on impact or on command via a psychic interface built into their helmet. Psychic interface also allows for 360° vision regardless of light, so no sneaking. Armor is built to withstand *atleast* one tank round. In case that wasn't enough, there is also some shielding. Sa-Za platoons are small but devastating. POWs are better as military rations.
Commonflock: Usually more of a town guard than anything else. Will use anything they can make themselves. guns are simple and not very abundant. Melee weapons generally see more use, especially by bigger furrisks. Ships only come with point defense for fending off astroids (but can still poke holes in some enemy crafts). Armor is light and made of a ceramic composite made from hardened plant matter, raw minerals, and clay. Not the toughest thing but surprisingly durable. Wear cloaks to mask the armor's weaknesses. Bigger furrisks are strong enough to just wear the metal they use for hull plating on ships. Would sigh with relief once armor is off, not cause the armor is uncomfortable, but because it just feels right to *not* wear anything. Every hatchling with a spear is a hatchling in danger, so volunteer only.
Ruggedfluffs: Your humble town guard just became ferocious barbarians. Will use anything they can make themselves, except this time the Sa-Za taught them a few manufacturing tricks. Some would call the Sa-Za pussies for not using melee as much. Would probably just eat you. Halberd combined with a flame thrower to roast you and then chop you in half. Ships still have point defense, but more of it. there is a point defense turret behind every nook and cranny to make sure that more than just asteroids get shredded (and also it is easier just to make lots of small turrets than a few large ones). Ceramic armor is still in use, but only when materials for Sa-Za grade armor is too expensive. Ship hull armor is still tougher for those strong enough to wear it however, and now it also has some Sa-Za grade padding. Still wear cloaks cause cloaks are badass. Sa-Za sometimes ask them to fluff up their numbers as an auxiliary force.
