"Only the brave dare to tread far from the comforts of their homes but only fools dare to wander into the forgotten wilds of the forest. A place where all comforts of man are lost, cast aside by wild growths that leave the grounds blanketed in a veil of shadows which dance in the corners of your eyes to tempt the natural instinct of fear. Strangely enough there are few sounds to be heard here even along the edges of the forest. The world you have just left is but a distant sound here. Your memory of such a place is to become hazy and soon forgotten. Drowned by the aura of silence of the woods. Only the aid of the winds and waters will help to stave off the dreadful silence that plagues this realm. Not even the birds sing here, not a comforting songs to be sung in the fortress of trees. You've wandered into deaths forest, a place of loss or redemption. The only thing here that will even remind you that you're alive is the sharpness of your own breath or the rhythmic drumming of a heart within. At least for the time being.
Should you dare to tread deeper where the paths end with only the river to guide you and brave it's waters, there is no turning back. You are now in his domain, judgement shall be upon you. Steel your heart and steady your soul. You must quiet your fears. If weakness is to be shown then you will simply be crushed by the forest itself long before you reach the destination so desired. Tread until you reach the pond and that's where you'll find the gatekeeper. Perched on a stone at the waters center beneath a tree with a canopy glistening with an eerie light. Should you have managed to survive your journey this far, do you best to earn his favor. Plead you fealty and prove your worth by word alone. Perhaps then you will be granted sanctuary and safe passage to the other side where your life will begin anew. Should you fail or attempt to flee, then your soul shall be forfeit. Torn asunder and forgetting from time before falling prey to the hunger of the great beast within."
This is but another one of those unfinished pieces I was working on for both myself and a friend who I don't believe is on this site? A bunch of ideas stitched together from pieces I've seen, etc. This is another one I want to work on again at some point once I figure a few more things out. I've been stumped on it for quite some time now so hopefully in the near future it'll be complete.
