i like. don't take myself or anything i do seriously.
so catboy geralt the witcher you know. that guy. of rivia. him. so in my catboy au his mutations fucking go hog on his body, and also he's the only witcher with mutations so severe. one of the elements of his mutations im most in love with is his almost-tail! or not-tail, or vestigial tail or whatever. it's not based on science at all, im pretty sure i heard a story about someone getting a tail they were born with removed or Something i dont know and im not looking it up, this is just. whatever. SO.
it's actually got vertebrae and musculature and whatnot but it's very, very short—3 inches? thereabouts?—and it can't do much. like he can barely make it move, and the last inch or so of it is numb. the fun part is that his hips and tailbone area began to shift to accommodate it better because, uh. we like.... lost our tails in evolution so we could walk upright better? when his bones all shifted to accommodate a tail (for balance!), they kinda (kiiinda) started gearing towards quadrupedalism rather than bipedalism, but he's a biped and the mutations didn't really focus around the tail anyway so it never made it very far. however! it did make it far enough that his whole lower back (and therefore his upper back, haha) is kind of Fucked even more than the average human back is, and geralt just experiences a constant chronic pain because none of it is in a great place for walking. the pain is usually pretty mild (like a solid 60% of the time), but it can get worse especially if he has to be on his feet a Ton.
ofc, no one knows about this except maybe the other witchers, and i bet those mfs dont even know the actual extent of the chronic pain/dont even know theres chronic pain at all, because geralt is about as communicative as a rock.
(additional cool fact that doesnt really have much to do with anything! the skin on the underside of his tail, particularly at the base, is a lot thinner than the rest of his skin (for like no damn reason) and folds over on itself a lot (think wrinkles in sphynx cats because that's what catboy geralt is vaguely based off of lol), and would likely be pretty prone to infection if geralt wasn't a witcher, given the thinner skin and it being located in a fairly unsanitary place. were he Human™ it could probably lead to Even More Problems, but at least being a witcher prevents him from, like. getting sick from it or whatever.)
okaaaay thanks for listening hehe <3
