Gouache painting of my character Thomas at the beach.
I really wanted to paint water and sand. I’m kind of sad that the digital copy isn’t as vivid as the original. I guess that’s always an issue with traditional art.

Gosh that's adorable, and you really used those medias so well! <3
I really am impressed with how you managed to get the part of the feet that is underwater look blurry.
And yes, digital versions of traditional art never comes out quite as nice unless you have some kind of incredibly expensive piece of equipment, I guess... x_x
But, still, it came out beautifully. Really amazing work! <3

Thank you! I’m still getting the hang of paint consistency with gouache but I’m really glad I was able to get the glazes down this time for the water.
I have an okay scanner somewhere in this house but even that feels off to me and needs a ton of additional processing ;n; I think I’m just too fussy about colors. I have the same problem printing off digital media, it never looks quite right XD

Sounds like a classic Screen Colour Calibration issue. :X
Because the colorspace is different between a monitor and printer, unless your screen is calibrated, your chances of getting a 1:1 screen-vs-printer colour is limited. And with the increasingly popular HDR monitors, it becomes even "worse" now...
Something to consider, I guess. Spyder makes some pretty good, and relatively-inexpensive solutions - but mind the "relative" word here, because they aren't cheap.
But it's not really required at the end of the day. Just something to keep in mind. XD
