drew another Echo fanart.
Heeere's Leo!
so many echo project fanart i wanna do next. I should just buy a dart board and tape in which idea i have in the back of my head and let the dart decide lol.
been planning to draw him since i did chase's fanart.
tried to copy the style i did on Chase back then.
i don't wanna say how i feel about this piece.
anyway i don't know if i mastered this style yet (i'll let you be the judge)
but if i think i can recreate this style again, would you be interested if i open a commission on this style?
my commission is only cell shading because that's the style that i think i mastered and has little to no risk of it being bad.

the same thing why i don't list backgrounds in my commission info, i really don't have a clue on how to do it. I have my own method in my cell shading style. after sketching, i'd do line art, after that, base color, after that, the cell shading (which is effin easy if i must say) and so on. now for my painterly style, i just paint it without any clue on how to do it. i just paint until i see what i like. but the thing is, there is a chance where i might ruin the drawing without realizing it. i'm glad this painting turned the way it is (i have some certain issue with it though) but around 70% of the drawing, i loathe it the fuck out. not until i did some certain strokes around the painting which i did randomly. key word, random. i didn't fully recognize the problem with the drawing and fix it right away, i just draw it until i see it look nice.
let's say cell shading is like when you're told to go from point a to point b, and then you're given a gps or a map to that destination.
but in painterly style, you're just told that it's north from here lmao.

not saying i have 0 clue about this style, but let's just say i'm about 60-70% of understanding it.

It sounds like you've managed to work out and answer to your question already. Although the painting style you show here is amazing, you don't have the confidence to recreate it consistently. At the moment, you don't know how to apply it freely and can only do it when you're in a certain "the zone" type of mentally.
This style would be nice to have commissions to in a higher tier above your base cell coloring, but until you master it, it's best to just use it only for personal art. If it turns out good, you can share it to promote yourself. If it turns out bad, you can scrap it without hangups.
One thing you can experiment with is recording yourself as you draw. Since you don't know how you sometimes reach an end point, making a speeddraw of yourself will let you study your own process objectively.

i'm just not in that zone, yeah that's what it felt like. like cell shading is me driving a car on a road, but painterly is like when i'm floating at a river and let it take me wherever the current is going.
as for commission, i've decided i'll put on a journal for a commission slot to a painterly style (sometime...)
i'd put in a detail about it how it's experimental and it's for practicing this style.
and for recording, hahah that's a bad idea. you'd get 2 hours and 4gb size video of me scribbling and end result would be nothing.
