Today i got this really cute joey to look after which we got from a family friend since unfortunately the mother died as it was hit by a car by some inconsiderate fool :<. Still undecided on naming it so any suggestions would be awesome.
Probably not the best pic as we were trying to get her to go to the toilet. I'll lose countless hours of sleep looking after this joey but damn it will be worth it until its mature which then I'll have to release as its illegal to keep one as a pet. It's a grey kangaroo but has some red on its sides and belly :3.
As sad as it may seem people always tend to drive past a dead kangaroo when they are driving so please have a heart and at least check the pouch with gloves on as it may not be very nice on the hands when you check, if there's a joey in the pouch then please take it somewhere where it will be safe since it'll die if it stays near the road. Move the carcass as well so its not on the road and move it when it's safe to do so. Use common sense if you are going to take it somewhere.

The only damage they can do is make an awful smell and have over 9000!!!! bacteria and bugs on the carcass since the fully grown one is dead unless its some sort of zombie kangaroo or you're trying to steal its young from the mother which is not a good idea! If you are the only one in the car and driving you have to hold on to both the joey and drive at the same time since leaving it on its own and they'll do their best to escape and cause damage to you, itself and the car.
you can put the joey in a pillow slip so it does restrict movement so you can safely place the joey on the lap without getting scratched balls. Joeys arent very heavy at all i think you're getting mixed up with the big joey and normally the joey stays inside the mothers pouch.
I normally take a pillow with me on long drives to farms etc. but we tend to leave a random pillow in the boot in case we ever need to pull over and need a sleep. If you cant put the joey in the car then just call a wildlife centre, vet etc. and see if you can get some help. If you did hit a dead roo it wouldnt do much damage to the car but it depends on where you hit it so do your best to avoid the stomach and intestines area.
