TwitterWhen animals considered to be "prey" by the apex predators of the world begin to band together for safety, where does it leave those caught in between?
Namely, a pair of pine martens, carnivores and flesh-eaters themselves, but small enough to be considered food for the bears, wolves and gluttons of the forest and field. They're on a journey to seek sanctuary with the rabbits, squirrels and other prey that have gathered to Oren--but they don't know if welcome or condemnation will meet them.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Hemlock is more loyal to her vision of what a safe hollow should be than she is to Oren himself. Sooner or later, she's gonna decide that Oren doesn't have their best interests at heart anymore, and when she does, it's gonna tear the Hollow apart. A fair chunk of the Hollow's inhabitants will likely side with Hemlock, even more so now that Sprig isn't around to be an extra voice of reason backing Oren up.
I see the exact opposite happening. She tries to start a rebellion and no one wants to join because they're all timid prey species. She gets exiled and then ends up trying to show Oren the error of his ways by leading Hunters back to the hollow where they cement her reputation as an unstable psycho in place for all time.
Soft headed badger? Pretty rude coming from the one who permanently mutilated her. She herself said it was the right call but Hemlock doesn't have the right to personally be judging anyone from both a moral standpoint or a strategic one giving her 'kill 'em all' policy. Hemlock will be the downfall of the hollow if she can't change.
I still see hemlocks side clearly. The lady has been shattered and is NOT back together in any way shape or form yet folks keep treating her a *just evil*. Not in the slightest, but a walking train-wreck that needs serious help OH yes. Trouble is the help she needs I doubt anyone can give her, so its deal with her, aim her to the enemies constantly and hope she dont come back, or plant her.
This is why I follow this story, not only great artwork but we see the actual struggle of pred vs prey and its not a world of sunshine and rainbows as cheif bogo would say.

I disagree slightly. I think the help she needed was just seeing that Rask was genuine and not a threat. Given enough time, it could've developed into a friendly rivalry of the minds like two competing CEOs
Unfortunately, Yarrow cut that time very, very short. Sprigs death changes her priorities. She now needs time to mourn first and foremost

There is the wisdom of age that is not clouded by hatred.
Oren knew all along that their seclution would not hold up forver like Hemlock so desperately clings to. Maybe even Sprigg already saw it and that is why he was so on board with the Marten Experiment (after all he realized the Darkness they drifted to with the might they got from the weapons with Egg and how that could lead to arrogance in their fighting power)
But this truth that they can not keep hidden will now split the Hollow in half.
