tayoh and i spent this extra long weekend (due to juneteenth) making up for my somewhat shitty birthday by trying something i've always wanted to but have until now been too scared to(thanks dad for the chronic fear of failure and wasting materials); clay sculptures!
this is my first attempt at any sort of actual baked clay thing, but we had watched some videos on it (mostly followed by resin being poured over it as part of a diorama) so we had a pretty good idea what to do and i think it went really well for a first try! started with a wire armature, added foil and masking tape to bulk it out, then clay, after which we baked it in the oven and painted it. all this was done with materials we already had lying around... cuz i did always WANT to do this, i was just too scared to. tayoh is nice and doesn't yell at me for not getting things perfect the first time tho so we finally did it! and it was really nice to get to do a project like this WITH him, especially since he usually doesn't have the time.
next time i hope to do this on a larger scale, so i can get in more detail (this model is about as tall as my hand, maybe a bit shorter), build a more intricate armature, and spend more time adding details with the clay itself(we were in a bit of a hurry since tayoh doesn't have much time away from work and we wanted to do it together)
