While a work of the time - Moebius was involved in one naive magical woo-woo i was involved in another only slightly more rational woo-woo - it was the time when Western spirituality was exploring other traditions - but - i think the theme of sort-of "super-ego" voices telling an artist to go all woo or to get real and give art up - that's still going on inside every artist, writer, musician, etc etc - along with artists learning to reject both those internal voices as rubbish.

See? This is why I've locked my internal voices in the basement.

i rarely did acid around '74 - '79 - and always in small doses - it wasn't (and isn't) a recreational drug; i was interested in how a small dose would work : what was my regular perception and what was coming from the acid. There were a lot of acid burn-outs in the '60s and that was not an attractive path. One of my senior middle school papers was on the current research on the chemical basis of schizophrenia and how drug use adolescence in those with a birth predilection could trigger full onset. Sad stuff - like Syd Barrett.

i think Moebius later eschewed LSD as a man made chemical and took to peyote use as being the spirit of nature. (facepalm)

Today, in my part of the world (a small population), due to safe injection sites being shut down during Covid, about six people per day die from unintentional overdoses mainly due to Fentanyl being cut into the drugs they think they're taking. So, yeah, the '60s and '70s were very benign compared to this.

i wan't to prefice this little story by saying that i'm not anti-chinese in away - love Chinese culture in general, and that there are many blind and corrupt people in every bearocracy on eath. so. in my province i was switched off a bp med i had been on for years because it turned out this China manufactured pill was full of carcinogenic contaminants. That pill could have been coming from the US or France etc ... what get's me is that it took them years to do the testing.
