Great stuff as always, but one small nitpick. Like most architectural styles, Art Deco wasn't named until some time after it was in vogue. In this case, the first use of the term as we know it was for an exhibit in 1966, so nobody who was actually contemporary with the style would call it such.
Fair point: I've changed the text from "Art Deco" to "Moderne." This, I think, is vastly less anachronistic. I know for an ironclad fact the term (referred to as "moderne art") was used for "Page Miss Glory," released in March of 1936, and a quick check of the New York Times archives shows the term used in scattered form in the late 20s and early 30s. I didn't use "Art Moderne" or "Streamline Moderne."
