The midtown street was nearly deserted at such a late hour. The few who walked in and out of the dim light of the street lamps were either staggering drunkenly or clustered in groups of colleagues for safe travel. Delilah was the only exception. She sighed heavily as she slumped down the sidewalk, alone.

The night hadn't gone well, for a number of reasons. Foremost on her mind at the moment was lack of decent company...and by "decent," her loose standards called for any man willing and sober enough to show her a good time. None seemed to be available in this dumpy town.

Deciding to call it a wash, she ducked into a dark alley to discretely shift into her true form for her journey home.
