i'm a traditional artist before a digital artist actually so i already have all the supplies, heh. i like photoshop because of its instant gratification. it is also very forgiving ;]
but photoshop is rather pricey (assuming people actually purchase it) plus wacom tablets are very expensive. i'd say traditional and digital are somewhat even in a financial respect.

I only paid $40 for my Wacom 4x8, and student versions of Photoshop are inexpensive, as are copies you find at surplus sales, thrift stores, and my favorite, yard sales. These people don't realize you can upgrade. I don't need my copy upgraded yet.
For me in my situation, it was the only choice to learn. I just wish I could have taken art classes while I was in school. Oh well, maybe next time.
