"I started exploring the region around my trench. I discovered that many merpeople live in the myriad of caves there!
While I looked at each cave in search of something interesting, I found a cecaelia that was rather hostile... but rightfully so...
She laid her eggs in that cave, and she was ready to protect them no matter what. She wasn't really in the mood for a talk...
It looked like she was already showing the signs of exhaustion and starvation... She looks so young yet so old!
I think that many would like to help her or at least give her food. However, in the state she's in, I don't think she will accept any of that.
She's just obsessed with her offspring. I left her in her cave, though I contacted other cecaelias so that she would be taken care of."
A hostile young mother protecting her offspring. Will she see them hatch and grow, or will she perish before that time comes? In the Octopus tribe, males traditionally leave the females after they lay their eggs. However, this leaves the females alone to protect their offspring, without time to think for herself. This practice is now unusual to come across in normal circumstances, but can still be found in young broken couples. The Octopus tribe is trying to incentivize the creation of facilities and organizations to help the lone females raise their young safely.
