I remember one of the things that got me on my old style was how I had a comfort size I always drew at (without actually having a good measurement for.) Now with easy pixel measurements it tends to be just above 60 pixels (inflation not with-standing) so I wanted to practice on a 128px pic, which is a really good 8 divisible size for more normal looking brush stroking without subsequently losing the pixelated feel.
The smaller sprite really helped me get my bearings for something bigger, so it stays in.
The chest cross arms is also my sort of defaut pose in public so that is what I wanted to go with it for this higher res pic as well.
