Oof. Now that we've gotten the page out of the way, here comes the "fun" part...

Well, let's just jump right in. As you can see by the artwork and the title itself, I have to take a month-long break from not just the comic but art in general. You see, in just two days time, I'll be heading up to join the Carthage Institute of Paleontology on their annual expedition to the Hell Creek Formation in Montana! It's something I've been preparing for for a long time, and I'm very excited to have the opportunity to work in the field doing what I love.

If you didn't know it already, I'm still finishing my undergraduate degree and am majoring in both paleontology and Classical archaeology (my college, unfortunately, does not have an Egyptology program... but that's something I can work toward in the future); this dig trip is therefore a huge deal for me, as it's the sort of work I'd like to be doing for the rest of my life. My loves for paleontology and archaeology pale in comparison to my love for TCotC, of course, but there isn't much I can do to keep the comic going while I'm on my trip. I will be leaving my main computer behind at home, and without it I can't do much in the way of art -- I don't have the tools or programs I would normally use to make comic pages on my little travel laptop. Additionally, even if I did have access to the tools to make pages, it is very likely I will have absolutely no time at all left in the day when we return from the dig site. It also goes without saying that the remote location of the dig site will make connecting to the Internet more difficult than usual.

So, unfortunately, I will have no means to create pages for the next three weeks. Thankfully, I will return home on the 17th, but this is only a short, one-day break; afterwards, I'll be heading on down to Texas for a week to deal with some family matters. I return home from that on the 23rd, which is a Friday -- and I can't make a page in one day. The week after I return is also the designated week for my own annual event, The Week of Chaos, and so all of my art energy is going to be diverted towards that instead of comic pages for several days...

Soooo yeah. The universe has kinda decided I just can't have pages next month, unfortunately. But it's okay! I'll still keep up with the script -- while I can't draw, I can still definitely write, and I'll try my best to get some work done. In the mean time, I hope you guys will stick around for when I come back!


TL;DR - I have a lot of crap going on in my life in the next month and will have no way to make comic pages for a little while. I'll see you guys again in August.
