Amazing new commission from 
of Topaz in his edgy demon armour.
He did an incredible job with this one. It's a little outside the norm for him, considering how non-historical the design is, but he managed to capture the feel I wanted perfectly, and it still looks like a suit of armour you could wear.
Since the armour is summoned, rather than donned in a traditional fashion, there are no visible straps at all. The straps are a potential weakness on armour, and while it was incredibly rare for straps to get cut during combat, you might as well minimize the risk if it doesn't sacrifice convenience like in this case.
The armour is basically 100% designed by him from a couple of references to help get a feel for what I wanted, and I couldn't be happier with it. Everything about it just hits the spot perfectly.

Honestly, yeah, they're fairly similar in a lot of different ways. Even down to the aztec inspirations in the origin stories.
At least the amount of floof is distinctive, so you'd still be able to tell them apart if they were in art together :P

I get that... I do LARP, and even with the head being off-limits for strikes, it's surprising how often a stray sword or axe hits you there.
Or big people in armour accidentally smacking you in the head with their shoulder...
