Chapter 26: Stories and Swims
The kids sat down on the grass, surrounded by the Blue-Moon Tribe. They were amazed and fascinated by the sight of such magnificent creatures. “First of, I would like to introduce my Tribe” Lok spoke up, introducing his friends. “There is Quick-Force, my second-in command.”
The Hippogriff nodded. “Charger, my third-in-command.” The Bull-Elk snorted. “Nite-Stone, Spy-Master and Deep-Six, Naval Warrior.” The Jackal wagged his feline tail and the Tiger-Shark grinned, showing his sharp teeth.
“Babeon, Priest and Witch-Doctor.” The Baboon thumped his chest. “Long-Fang, Grand-Master and Batteram, Battle-Lord” The Tiger purred softly while the Buffalo snorted. “Evo, Sky-Priestess and Sky-Fall, my best Aerial Warrior.” Both birds fluffed their feathers.
“Glow-Blade, my skilled Assassin.” The Hydra hissed and flexed his spider-limbs. “Finally, there is Mystic-Blade, our most skilled Shaman and High-Lord Clubber; two of the wisest members of our tribe.” Melody smiled. “It’s wonderful to meet you all.” She explained
Tracy, daughter of Cinderella spoke up. “Lok, please tell us more about you?” She asked. “The more we understand, the better it is for all of us.” “For example, where is your home and are there more of you?”
The Monsuno looked at each other, unsure how to answer. Clubber, the great Behemoth let out a rumbling chuckle. “It is rather complicated, man-cubs” He replied. “Our home is far away and it far different from yours.” The children grew a bit confused. “What does that mean, sir?” Melody asked
The Behemoth smiled. “We mean to say we are not from this world.” He replied. “Our home is from another world in another dimension.” The children’s eyes grew wide. “Another world!?” Luciana exclaimed, her eyes sparkling.
“Yes, little one.” Evo replied, her feathers glistening in the sun. “In our world, there are no castles or kings or queens. Such things have passed long in our time.” “No kings or queens!?” Azad and Malk exclaimed in shock.
“How is that possible?” Kathrin asked. Mystic-Blade spread his large wings wide. “Calm yourself, little ones.” The Winged Serpent assured them. “Perhaps, it is best if we show you.” He closed his eyes and to the children's amazement, the patterns on his coils began to glow brightly.
Mystic-Blade bend his wings forward and a ball of light formed between them. He held the ball of light towards the amazed children, and they all saw clear images inside of it. They saw strange buildings made of metal and glass that stretched high to the clouds, metal vehicles that drove without horses and devices that sparkled to life.
“What is this?” Ping asked in wonder. “That is our world...” Mystic-Blade replied. “Humanity from our world have greatly advanced beyond your time.” “They have learnt how to harness the sun and the wind to create energy and learnt to construct mighty structures to live.” The Winged Serpent continued. “It was humanity who created us, the Monsuno.”
“How is it possible?” Mainard asked. “What kind of creatures are you?” Mystic-Blade smiled. “Did you learn of the Great Cataclysm that wiped out the dinosaurs?” He asked. “When great stones fell from the sky and collided with Mother Earth?”
“Yes...” Garrick replied. “Luciana and I read about it from our books.” A few other children nodded. Mystic-Blade showed them an image of asteroids in the ball of light, hitting the earth. “When the stones smashed on Mother Earth, a strange essence seeped into her surface.”
The children’s eyes widened as they saw a strange green substance seep into the ground from the ball of light. “This essence remained hidden deep under Mother Earth for centuries.” The Winged Serpent continued. “Growing stronger and more volatile with each passing age.”
“As it grew, it developed a consciousness of its own.” The Far-Seer explained. “Until finally, a scientist named Suno discovered it” An image of Jeredy Suno was shown, finding the essence. “Suno was searching for a new energy source to sustain humanity’s growing numbers.”
“Suno...” Ping muttered. “That sound like a Japanese name.” “So, what did he do with this essence?” She asked. “The brilliant man hoped to learn more about these strange essence and wanted to discover more about it, but he needed to find a way to contain the volatile substance.”
“So, he created the Core,” An image of a strange metallic cylindrical blue object was shown. The children were surprised; they had never seen a strange object like it. “Core?” Edgard asked. The Winged Serpent nodded his great head. “The Core was designed to contain the essence and control its volatile nature.”
“He combined the essence with various elements of nature and the essence of other animals.” He added as images of more Monsuno were showed. “From this, he created creatures of immense power and strength.” “That is how Monsuno are born.”
The children were amazed as the ball of light disappeared. “So, you were all created by humans?” Melody asked. Lok nodded his head. “Yes, little sister.” He replied. “In fact, it was Suno who gave us the name ‘Monsuno’ as he was the one who discovered us.”
“That’s incredible!” Malak added. “So, are there more like you?” Lok nodded. “Yes, there are many Tribes of Monsuno in our world.” He explained. “Ours’ is the Blue-Moon Tribe, as you might have known.”
“Other Tribes inclube the STORM Tribe, known for their strict military discipline.” The White Bear added. “The Forge Tribe, known for being half-machine.” “Finally,” Lok’s face turned grim. “There is the Blood-Fang Tribe...”
“Blood-Fang?” Azad asked curiously. “The Blood-Fang are the most brutal and savage Tribe to ever exist, and they are our sworn enemies.” Lok replied “They have been hoping to conquer our world and wipe us out, and they are led by their War-Chief, Back-Slash.”
“Back-Slash...” Jin shuddered. “He sounds scary.” Boost, the Great Wolf snorted. “Scary is an understatement.” He replied. “He is the most violent and ambitious of his Tribe, a warmonger through and through.”
“How did you get here?” Dianne asked. “It’s hard to explain.” Charger explained, shaking his great head. “We were fighting the Blood-Fang Tribe when a strange light fell from the sky and we found ourselves falling through a strange tunnel.”
“Next thing we knew, we were falling from the sky and we landed in the forest outside your castle.” The Bull-Elk sighed. “If only our human friends are alright.” “Friends?” Radelle asked in surprise. “Our partners, Team Core-Tech.” Lok explained. “They are our human friends back home.”
“Our friends Jinja, Bren, Beyal, Dax and my best friend Chase.” Lok sighed. “I only wish that they are alright.” Melody looked at the White Bear in concern. Before she knew it, she walked up and hugged his furry arm much to his surprise. “Don’t worry.” She assured, smiling at him. “I’m sure we’ll help you find your way back home.”
The White Bear just stared at the princess before smiling gratefully. “Thank you, little one.” He replied. Melody’s smile broke into a wide grin. “Everyone, I have an idea!” She exclaimed jumping down on to the sandy beach and went behind a big rock, bringing along a bag that she had brought with her.
“Melody!” Mainard called out. “What are you doing?” “Don’t look!” Melody called out from behind the rock. “I’ll be out in a moment!” Three minutes later, Melody emerged from behind the rock, wearing a modest one-piece swimsuit.
The other girls and especially the boys, particularly Garrick stared wide-eyed at Melody in her swimsuit. The Monsuno looked confused. “What are you wearing, little one?” Evo asked, cocking her head to one side.
“My swimsuit!” Melody exclaimed, smiling. “Come on everyone! Let’s go swimming!” Deep-Six's eyes shone brightly. “Well, come me in, little sister!” The Tiger-Shark stretched himself and jumped onto the beach. “Me too!” Long-Fang added, stretching himself as well. “Nothing like a fresh morning swim!”
“Mind if I join you?” Glow-Blade asked as he slithered up as well. “What of you, Grand Chieftain?” Lok grinned and stretched his great arms. “Well, I could use a good dip.” He rumbled, making his way to the beach.
Melody grinned and waved at the other royal children. “Come on, guys!” She called out, running towards the water and splashing around. The feeling of the waves lapping her gently made her feel like she returned to her second home.
“Melody!” Dianne called out, nervously. “Ummm... the thing is...none of us can swim.” Melody was surprised at this revelation. “None of us had a chance to go swimming, so...we don’t know how.” Mainard added. “And the ocean seems a bit scary...”
Although the young prince showed little fear against bandits and wild animals, he was very nervous at how vast the sea is, and it seemed to swallow him whole. The other royal children were in the same boat as he was, all of them nervous about swimming.
“Hahahahahaha!!” Deep-Six roared in laughter, making the children jump and stare at the Tiger-Shark in surprise and in some cases, annoyance. “There’s nothing to be frightened off, little ones.” He assured them. “The ocean is where all life was born, from the tiniest ant to the largest whale. It is a force of nature which should be respected.”
“Besides, you humans are natural swimmers.” The Tiger-Shark grinned at them, showing rows of sharp teeth. “You cubs could practically swim before you could crawl.” “How did you think you survive in your mothers’ wombs?” The children were stunned to hear this.
“What Deep-Six is saying, little ones...” Lok added. “is that we can teach you how to swim.” He smiled gently. “It will be as easy as breathing.” “Lok’s right!” Melody added. “The ocean’s not so bad!” “Come on!” She waved at them. “Let us show you!”
Just as she finished saying that, some lively music began to play in the wind and the waves seemed to add to it.
(Play Feels Just Like Home from Brother Bear)
Melody ran into the ocean, feeling the waves hit her and began to swim in a carefree manner. Long-Fang and Glow-Blade joined in, the Tiger soon paddling out into the water while the Hydra floated on the surface, his spider limbs acting like rudders.
The others were a little hesitant, but they saw Lok standing in front of them, gesturing them to follow and Deep-Six gently nudging them with his tail, encouraging them into the water. The boys went first, removing their shirts and making the girls blush.
Learning how to smile again
Free to show my heart
Knowing I can face the things
That used to seem too hard
As they moved into the sea, Mainard was a little tense as the waves rose and crashed into his body. However, he slowly started to get the feel of it, same with Edgard, Azad and Garrick.
The girls looked at one another, before following the boys into the water. They didn’t wear heavy clothes so they wouldn’t get weighed down. Lok and Deep-Six watched them enter the water before joining them in the water.
I look inside your eyes and see
A different part of me
Melody pointed to her right and the children looked to see dolphins swimming a bit away from them! The children were amazed as they never seen them up close before. The dolphins squeaked and leapt in play time, making Melody giggle
Of what I didn't know I want in life
You're everything I need
She mentioned them to join her and she dived into the water! The others looked a little hesitant, but the phrase ‘Nothing ventured, nothing gained’ came into their minds. Taking a deep breath, the lot closed their eyes and dunked into the water!
The girls were a more graceful in the water as they swam while the boys doggy-paddled. Fortunately, Melody swam to them and helped them to get used to the feeling of being underwater.
So many things I've been missing
Not watching but
That was all in the past
Melody led the children to a nearby coral reef and the little ones were amazed to see so much color and life in the ocean! Small fishes and other sea creatures swam through the nooks and crannies of the beautiful coral reefs. They saw eels hiding in the rocky artworks and crabs scuttling about in the sand.
Now I realize
There's so much more to learn
I'm ready for the world
Not scared of letting go
Melody smiled as she saw her friends enjoying the sights and she began to twist and twirl with laughter and delight in heart and mind. Although she lacked a tail, she swam around like she was a born mermaid.
A deep rumbling sound caught the children's attention and they saw Deep-Six swimming around gracefully, his shark tail swishing side to side and walking along the seafloor with his paws. Glow-Blade was swimming along the seafloor too, his coils moving through the rhythm of the waves.
Now I realize
There's so much more to feel
And my heart knows it's real
The part of me so long forgotten is calling
A loud purr joined in and Long-Fang appeared, paddling with his paws. He rubbed against Ping and Jin, making them giggle a bit. Lok, the White Bear was walking about on the seabed, enjoying the cool, pure waters of the ocean. He turned around and smiled to see the children swimming about.
And this feels like home
Home, Home
As they swam and had fun, the royal children soon came up for breath. They had smiles on their faces and began to splash about, enjoying the simple, sweet joy of being in such a beautiful place. Melody was laughing and splashing Tracy and Radelle when she saw coming up in the water.
Feels Just like home
Feels just like home
Coming up and rising near them was Lok himself! The children looked in awe as the White Bear looked at them with his glowing white eyes and squealed when he shook his great head, sending water flying everywhere.
Right from the start, been friends forever
Somehow we're meant to be together
I feel like you've shown me how to find my way home
Find my way home
Melody stared at Lok in the eyes and she could see that he was at peace. Instinctively, she swam up to him and gave him a hug on his muzzle. Lok softly growled in pleasure and went under again. The children looked at one another, before Melody took a chance and dived after him. The others followed suit.
Now I realize
Feels just like home
Feels just like home
It feels just like home
Feels just like home
Feels like home
Melody and the other royal children saw Lok walking the ocean floor, making sure he didn’t step on the coral reefs. He turned to his left to see a pod of orcas swimming in the distance and all sorts of sea creatures swimming around him.
Back in his own world, Lok learnt to respect all of Mother Gaia’s creations and wonders, since he was born from the earth itself. Forming the Blue-Moon Tribe only strengthened that respect.
Now I realize
There's so much more to learn
I'm ready for the world
Not scared of letting go
Melody and the others swam around him, but only the former was bold enough to touch and trail along with the White Bear, hitching a ride on one of his crystal spikes. This surprised Lok a little, but he didn’t mind.
Now I realize
There's so much more to feel
And my heart knows it's real
The part of me so long forgotten is calling
Deep-Six joined in with the procession, nudging gently close to Tracy. The princess smiled and clung onto his great fin, stroking his warm furry back. Glow-Blade was next, with Azad and Malak clinging to his two of his necks. Even Long-Fang joined in, with Ping nuzzling into his soft fur.
And this feels like home
This feels like home
Home home
Feels just like home
Feels just like home
Soon, the Monsuno returned back to shore with the children. The other Monsuno were waiting for them. “Looks like you’ve been having fun.” Evo spoke up, a voice of amusement. “Yes, sister.” Long-Fang replied, as Ping jumped off his back.
“Nothing like a good swim to freshen yourself up!” Deep-Six added, before he, Long-Fang and Lok shook themselves, sending water everywhere and making the children squeal. “Hey! Watch it!” Garrick laughed.
Melody was the last one out, and she turned back to stare into the ocean, her second home. Lok noticed this. “Are you alright, little sister?” He asked gently. She sighed but had a true and genuine smile on her face.
She turned to the White Bear. “Yes, Lok.” She replied, smiling at him. “I’m just happy to be spending time with you.” “Just you wait, we’ll show you just how wonderful our world is.” She added, getting the White Bear to smile. “It will be my honor and pleasure, young Melody.” He spoke.
The latter turned around and walked back to the others, who were telling their Monsuno friends their amazing underwater adventure. “Here, Lok!” Tracy added, taking a huge slab of fine cut beef and tossed it at the White Bear, who caught it in his jaws and chewed it.
“Thank you, little sister!” Lok replied, licking his lips with delight. Mainard went to Melody. “Thanks for showing us how incredible the sea is!” He exclaimed. “Especially since our guardian angels can swim.”
Melody smiled. “It’s my pleasure.” Now, they had the whole afternoon to be with their newfound friends before the guards could wake up from their little nap.
