Chapter 27: Maleficent’s Scheme
(In the Forbidden Mountain...)
While the children were getting to know their Monsuno friends, Maleficent was getting to know her Monsuno allies. Her magic was almost back at full power, but she was still taking it relatively easy.
Her armies were halfway finished with the construction of a ship that Fire-Walker needed to ferry. Of course, the Crocodile was downright furious when he was told to be harnessed like a horse but soon changed his tune when Maleficent promised him boat-loads of fish to eat.
Now, she was standing on a raised stone slab that overlooked the little valley at the base of the Forbidden Mountain. “So...” she asked Back-Slash and Shadow-Hornet who sat on either side of the stone slab. “I am told you are called Monsuno, is that right?”
“Indeed, Witch Queen...” The Hornet replied. “We were born from Mother Earth and crafted by human hands.” “Our Tribe is the greatest in terms of power and strength.” He grinned, making a strange clicking noise with his mandibles. “No force alive can challenge us.”
Maleficent smirked. “Really?” She asked. “You must be quite the conquerors.” The Black Wolf snarled. “We would if it wasn’t for that wretched bear, Lok!” “Lok?” Maleficent asked. “You mean, the White Bear.”
“He and his Tribe, the Blue-Moon are our sworn enemies.” Shadow-Hornet replied. “They believe that humans and Monsuno could live together in peace.” “They have constantly ruined our plans and beaten us time and time again.” He buzzed. “What we wouldn’t give to wipe out their entire Tribe of the face of the Earth...”
Maleficent looked amused. “Looks like we share a common goal.” She spoke up, getting Back-Slash and Shadow-Hornet to look at her. “We all desire revenge on those who stood in our way.” “We all wish to rule this land and all who live in it.” She continued.
“I have witnessed your powers in your world from the magic mirror.” She added. “However, I would like to see these powers firsthand, if I may.” “After all, you are the great Blood-Fang Tribe.” She suggested, a cunning smile on her face.
Back-Slash grinned wickedly. “Well, I have nothing better to do...” He spoke up, before getting to his feet. “Warriors of the Blood-Fang Tribe, hear me!!” He roared, as the other Blood-Fang Monsuno gathered around him.
“Our hostess, the Witch Queen has offered us a chance of revenge against the Blue-Moon Tribe!” He declared. “She has asked for a demonstration of our great powers,” The Black Wolf added. “to test if we are worthy of joining her cause!”
The Blood-Fangs roared, howled and screeched. “Shadow-Hornet, you and Spike-Bat start first.” Back-Slash told the Hornet, who buzzed in agreement. “Come brother, let us show her!” The Hornet spoke up.
“SSSKKKKKKKRRRRRAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!” Shadow-Hornet screeched and flapped his great bat-like wings, sending deafening gusts of winds at the mountains. “AAAAARRRRRRAAAAAWWW!!!” Spike-Bat screeched and shot beams of red light.
As the attacks stuck the mountain....BOOM!!!! A thunderous explosion rocked the mountain, sending chunks of rock and debris flying everywhere! The minions down below screeched and yelled as they fled to avoid getting squashed.
Maleficent was impressed by such actions. “Marvelous!!” She cackled with delight. “Anyone else!?” Fire-Walker snorted and stepped forward, along with Snap-Claw, Spike-Lash and Toxiclaw. “Let us show you what true Blood-Fang Warriors are capable of!!” The Crocodile boasted
Fire-Walker roared and unleashed a blast of flame and fire from his mouth, scorching a good section of the forest! Maleficent was astonished, it reminded her of her own fire breath in her dragon form. Spike-Lash and Toxiclaw were next, the Giant Crab slashing the mountain with his razor-sharp limbs while the Centipede shot his stinger tail.
Snap-Claw joined in, using his large pincers to uproot trees and smash boulders into pebbles. He also dug up mounds of earth with his pincers and threw them at the forest fire, putting them out. “May I remind you three that we need to be careful, you can’t afford to waste your energy...” The Lobster grunted.
“You worry too much...” Spike-Lash scoffed. “What do you care about a few burnt trees?” The Lobster made a low growling noise. “I don’t...” He rumbled. “What I do care is the destruction of the Blue-Moons, and it is pointless for you to waste your energy before that happens.”
“Calm down, Lord Snap-Claw.” Twin-Sting crooned, scuttling forward with her eight legs. “I believe it’s our turn, right Poison-Wing?” The Serpent hissed in reply. “You have the honors-s-s-s, S-s-s-sis-s-s-ster, Twin-S-s-s-sting...”
The Spider raised its two tails and shot poison from its stingers into the mountain! “HHHHIIIIISSSSSSSSAAAAAAA!!!!!” Poison-Wing hissed and spewed out green venom from his mouth. When the poison touched the mountain, the rock melted and sizzled away to mush, much to the Witch-Queen's delight.
Now, all that was left was Gold-Spear, Librax, Freedom-Striker and Back-Slash himself. “Time for you to know what real power is...” The Blood-Tiger growled as a red ball of energy formed between his horns.
“We’ll see, brother Librax.” Freedom-Striker replied, before he opened his jaws and another red energy ball formed. Gold-Spear joined in, his golden fur standing on end and his ebony spike blazed. Finally, Back-Slash raised his head, taking a deep breath.
All at once, all four Monsuno roared, shooting beams of dark red energy at the mountain, or what’s left of it. *BOOM!!!* A loud explosion echoed as the whole mountain crumbled to the ground, leaving nothing but a pile of rubble and dust!
Maleficent was over the moon with wicked glee. Never before had she seen such devastating power. “HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!” She cackled loudly. “Fortune has smiled upon us today!” She declared, getting the Blood-Fangs' attention. “You are indeed the greatest of all beasts!”
“With your power, I’ll not only get my revenge on Aurora and Phillp...but all of the Magic Kingdom will be under our reign!!” She cackled loudly. “WE WILL BE UNSTOPPABLE!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”
The Blood-Fangs didn’t say anything, but grinned in pleasure. “So, when do we invade this Magic Kingdom?” Twin-Sting asked. Maleficent grinned back. “For countless years,” she explained. “I have gathered many magical artifacts from across the Magic Kingdom and I have found something that can help us.”
“Minions!” She commanded her soldiers, who stood in attention. “Bring them out!” Seven imps raced into the castle and within minutes, returned carrying eight objects and laid them before the Witch-Queen.
The Monsuno looked at each object. One was a golden staff with the head of a cobra, another was a black hat with a purple jem with three feathers attached to it, the third was a necklace with a small sea-shell attached to it.
The fourth was an hunter’s bow, with a quiver of arrows, the fifth was a small dagger with a silver blade, the sixth was a serrated, jagged jian sword with a ring pommel and the seventh was a small golden key. Finally, the eighth object was a strange red box with a golden heart carved on it with a large golden crown on top of it.
“This is your strategy?” Librax growled in annoyance. “How is this worthless junk going to help us take over?” Maleficent scoffed at the Blood-Tiger. “These ‘worthless junk’ are more than you think, Lord Librax.” She replied, undaunted by his reply.
“These objects once belong to the Magic Kingdom’s most devious and wicked villains.” She added. “With my staff, they are known as the Wicked Nine.” “Legend has it that if they are brought together, they wield unspeakable power.” She finished with a wicked grin.
“Unspeakable power?” Shadow-Hornet asked, intrigued by this revelation. “Of course.” Maleficent replied. “Jafar’s Staff, Dr. Facilier’s Hat, Ursala’s Necklace, Gaston’s Bow and Arrows, Mother Gothel’s Dagger, Shan Yu’s Sword, Lady Termaine’s Key and finally, Queen Grimhilde’s Crown and Box.” She listed down each of the objects.
“Intriguing...” The Hornet replied, buzzing softly. “You say this artefacts belong to villains like you?” “Yes...” The Witch-Queen replied. “Sadly, though, most of the villains have passed away and left this world.”
“Shame...” Librax grunted, sniffing at Shan Yu’s sword. “I would have loved to meet this Shan Yu.” Maleficent smirked. “Well, that is why I have brought them out.” She replied. “The Magic Mirror told me I needed to gather common allies to our cause.”
“For a long time, I have tried to unlock the power of the Wicked Nine.” She added. “All of them ended in failure.” A wicked grin spread over her face. “But now, I realise what I have to do to get that power.”
The Monsuno were getting interested now. “And how exactly will you get this power?” Maleficent waved her staff and the artefacts rose into the air. “By bringing all the owners of these artefacts back from the dead!” She exclaimed. “We will bring back the Magic Kingdom’s greatest villains!!”
“You can raise the dead?” Snap-Claw asked, a bit impressed. “Of course.” Maleficent replied. “How did you think I came back after that wretched Prince Phillp struck me down?” “With all these villains joining us,” she added. “we will form an army that will destroy our enemies and take over the Magic Kingdom!”
The Monsuno were excited. “You truly are the Mistress of Evil, Witch-Queen.” Back-Slash replied. “What do we have to do?” Maleficent grinned. “Bringing these villains to life won’t be easy.” She explained. “We need to find the remains of them and bring them back here.”
“Once their remains are gathered, we will bring back from the dead,” she declared. “and together, we will rule all of the Magic Kingdom!!!” The Witch-Queen cackled loudly while the Back-Slash and the Blood Fangs roared, howled and screeched. It seemed evil is rising up, and it was take something extraordinary to bring down such a force.
