More characters rescued from the obscurity of Columbia Studios cartoons. Totally Tooned In episode #2 --- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTPhx2Odm0g --- featured the 1949 short ``Cat-Tastrophe'', in which a cat imagines what horrible things the new puppy will do to him after growing up. In this cat's fantasy --- wholly unsupported by anything the puppy actually did, by the way --- there's a moment here where the cat tries to hide by pretending to be a sock hung from the clothesline, only to be spotted. It appears at about the 12:30 mark in that YouTube link.
The cat's look here might have finally given me the clue I needed to drawing sock- and shoe-based figures.
It's strangely soothing to draw the little cord windings in the clothesline like that.
The cartoon is fun in parts, but the editing doesn't serve a lot of the jokes well, and the premise and ending aren't justified enough for me to get on the cat's side.
