So one of my players expressed the want to learn more about his character's family as he left his backstory very vague. I then broke his character by revealing that the Character had been a changeling with amnesia the whole time while also revealing the flutterponies and changeling were at war. It was an amazing moment, and of course he needed a proper new ref after that.

Note, this was all done with the player's permission. Ruined a surprise but I couldn't change a player's race without permission like that.
