Summary

Kanya is a 22-year-old sabertooth cat with an unfortunate recessive condition that has stunted her saber growth significantly, to the point here they barely even poke over her lips. Her torture at the hands of Davinius has left her scarred in more ways than one. She is Verdie’s permanent live-in submissive while he stays in Coalition space – she cannot return to Earth with what she knows, or risk being driven mad by the things she witnessed under the surface of her formerly placid homeworld.
In most of the non-canon Hyperspace Web stories, she is instead Verdie’s sweet but kinky girlfriend who has given herself entirely to him. In others, she is a lost waif adrift on the tides of fate; or perhaps a maiden taken by the cruel whims of the daemon Davinius. No matter the place or time she’s in, she always seems to get tied up or slapped around.

History

Kanya was formerly an archeology student Earth, where she was kidnapped by Davinius the Traitor and tortured; she was rescued by Silus Anatolius and Vergarde Pireus, the latter of which nursed her body and mind back to health. Kanya is lost amongst the sea of stars, protected both by her connection to the authority of the Nevadari Knights and her boyfriend’s insane wealth. She lacks any connection to the struggle between the Coalition and the Nevadari Star Kingdom.

Powerset

Strangely, she does seem to have a supernatural ability, albeit a weak one. Kanya rapidly gains resistance to almost any psychic technique used on her over time, regardless of the origin or type; the only exception seems to be foresight or “scrying” type abilities about her future actions. In canon, this resistance allowed her to create a pocket of sanity to escape the madness of Davi’s soul magic, and in other stories means that more mundane methods of getting her to submit are necessary for long term use. No shortcuts!
Outside of this, Kanya is an excellent scholar and researcher specializing in the infinite myriad of cultures throughout the history of long-dead humanity.

Motivation

Kanya is ultimately a scared young woman whos’ out of her depth. Her psionic resistance means that she can outlast any magical attempt to force her submission.
Naturally possessed with a childlike wonder and love of knowledge, Kanya finds herself seeking out people with stronger will to “put her in her place”. This often manifests in the form of sexually active BDSM partners, or in getting kidnapped by a menagerie of villains.
