Ilove the idea of a planet inhabited by sock creatures where the carnivores among them can digest their sock prey as a means of population control. If a sock carnivore is based on an animal that doesn't need to swallow their prey whole, they may prefer to rip and tear at whatever parts would be like the meat the real carnivores normally eat. There will be sock carnivores like sock snakes who either must still swallow their entire food whole or can choose whether or not to do so depending on the anatomy of the predator and the size of its prey compared to how big its mouth can get. And being predatory, the sock counterparts of real animals share the same diet with the sock counterparts eating whatever prey is equivalent to what the real deals are. Unfortunately for sock people, that means big enough sock snakes and other predators of the sock people will devour and digest them along with whatever other sock creatures they eat. Sucks for them as it's what keeps their population in check whether they like it or not.
