Every planet in the Ten Empires has contributed military designs to the Joint Staff, whether they are up to date with the High Emperor’s standards or not. As each is controlled by a different emperor, different standards are met for each territory. Thus, there is a large mix of weapons at the Kannist’s command, ranging from very primitive to impressively advanced. Orodon and Mya-Kin, however, remain the technological paradises of the Ten Empires.
One of the best bread-and-butter, one-manned units is from the Shipyards orbiting Orodon’s moons, called the AS-14 Starfire. The strange, bow-legged design gives it a distinct feature that enemies recognize when they fight one, as well as allowing it to fly effectively enough in atmospheres. It is made specifically for orbital defense, but it can fight in both deep space and on planets if necessary. Sandshark cruisers often keep a good several dozen of these in hands in case of dicey encounters.
Its versatility is all thanks to a special gadget called the ATM-Stabilizer. This magnificent gadget completely negates the effects of gravity, allowing it to fly through atmospheres, dart across black holes, and even skim the surfaces of stars, without any worry of being crushed from gravitational pull. The ATM-Stabilizer also eliminates the need for booster engines usually required to launch exceedingly large shuttles and spacecraft into the deepest regions of space; after all, with the effect of gravity eliminated, they can leave the atmosphere at a slow, evenly paced velocity(The Starfire has a top speed of 4212 Miles Per hour and a cruising speed of 1275). However, it does come at a price. Ships equipped with this device will find that they need to navigate across the air using spacecraft engines(much like the ball and socket engines used on the Renegade Bumblebee: [link]). Also, other laws such as wind velocity and air pressure also apply and will affect the performance of an aerospacecraft’s capability, thus for the need of making it aerodynamic. As such, they’re not a complete replacement of planetary defense, as even an F-22 Raptor could outmaneuver them, but they are excellent support.
To maneuver, the Starfire has twin impulse engines for forward thrusting, and a single ball and socket, fusion auxiliary engine. The auxiliary engine can be secured with an EM Lock for more effective planetary flight, if the Pilot shuts off the ATM-Stabilizer. Much of its flight in atmospheres is computer controlled to compensate for its partial lack of aerial flight.
The Starfire has a multitude of weapons at its disposal, including twin arc laser pulse cannons, which fire electromagnetic laser shells in an angle that increases their accuracy. It is also equipped with two ES Bomb Burst-launchers, which can launch up to twelve bombs at a time, and requires thirty seconds to fully recharge. They can use these on multiple targets or focus on one single target. Finally, their tertiary weapon is a single Power Bomb(Proton-Based) Launcher. This thing can fire a single, powerful power bomb that will go a few thousand yards before it detonates, resulting in a massive explosion. Due to its slow nature and enormous blast radius, the power bomb is normally designated for capital ships whereas the missile launchers are used against smaller craft.
The armor of the Starfire is a light reflective Chrome alloy that is ideal for reducing damage inflicted by lasers and, to a lesser extent, plasma cannons. An energy shield protects it from the effects of weapons with more radioactive natures(photon and nova weapons). However, physical weapons and kinetic weapons will go right through the shields, breaking apart the ship’s light armor. Antimatter and Creation weapons will vaporize them.
