“Xylia! What happened to your arm!”
Mizuki knew Xylia had a tendency to return from foraging deep in the forest with her fair share of caked-on mud, dirt, and grime and more than a few scrapes. Even so, that never stopped faer from worrying over Xylia every time she got back from another trip into the woods.
The mushroom girl shrugged. “It’s nothing, really. Just a couple scratches and stings from falling off a cliff when I was trying to harvest a couple flitter bee hives…”
“You fell off a *cliff*? Xylia! You shouldn’t be risking life and limb for witch’s honey like that on my behalf! Here, show me your arm!”
Xylia hesitated for a bit, before sitting down next to the elf, presenting her arm with some reluctance. “Well… If you insist…”
Mizuki quickly looked over Xylia’s arm and then back into her eyes. “Yes, I’ve got just the thing for this. Wait right here while I get some stuff.”
Before Xylia could say a word, Mizuki hurried to the cellar where she kept her potions, soon returning with a bottle of healing lotion in hand. It wasn’t like Xylia was *that* harmed by scrapes like this. Her species was rather resilient that way. Still, it was good practice to patch up wounds like this, if only to let her heal faster. Mizuki had plenty of salves for that, and never shied away from using them on Xylia every time she came back from a foraging trip.
As Mizuki began applying one of the lotions to a welt on Xylia’s hand, the mushroom girl leaned back to let the potionmistress do faer job. “Thanks for patching me up, as always… I know I always seem to get into some situation or another but… I really appreciate you looking out for me.”
The elf’s face suddenly bloomed pink. “I… I’ll always look out for you, you dummy! It’s the least I can do, knowing you were hurt doing all that hunting for *my* potion ingredients…”
Xylia simply chuckled. “I know, Mizuki. I know.”
