Can you use layers in Gimp?

It looks like you used the color fill bucket on the same layer as your ink lines--because of the anti-aliased line edges, that ends up leaving a thin white line between your black lines and your color fill.

I did do just that, actually.

I colored it on a whim, to be honest.
