If any aerospace fighter deserves the attribute "BIG" it definitely is the Feurfaust. This 100-ton juggernaut is so large that it wouldn't fit into most dropship or warship hangar cubicles if it wasn't able to fold the outer parts of it's wings. Even when it's stationed on a planetary surface the feurfaust requires a larger hangar than normal if the techs want to perform daily maintenance without getting a slight feeling of claustrophobia.
The Feurfaust was designed for one single purpose: to hunt down and destroy attacking dropships or warships within a few minutes. For this reason, it was armored and armed as heavily as possible, which explains it's huge size and the boxlike shape. Of course, this proves very problematic when the fighter is flown in an atmosphere. Feurfaust pilots like to compare it to a flying brick (unless they fly it in space) that responds so slowly that an attacking fighter needs to know when to pull up if it's pilot doesn't want to crash right into the Feurfaust after a strafing attack.
The most notable things about the Feurfaust is it's armor. Over twenty tons of ferro-aluminium armor protect the fighter, which is more than some of the smaller dropships have. Even the canopy is reinforced by armor panels and several layers of diamond fiber layers. The level of protection is so high that the canopy can easily withstand several direct hits from an Autocannon/20, which would otherwise blow many other fighters apart. The nose of the Feurfaust can withstand more damage than the nose of a Leopard class dropship, and the wing armor is so thick that even a ramming attack from another fighter won't shear them of.
But the armor is not the only thing that is impressive. In order to destroy a large space vessel as fast as possible, the Feurfaust carries four rotary autocannon/5 in the frontal firing arc, and two medium lasers with extended range in the wings. On an alpha strike, the Feurfaust unleashes an apocalyptic firepower, mighty enough to shred through more than 6 tons of armor within a second. Even though the autocannons carry only enough ammo for ten salvos if they are used at maximum firing rate, this is more than enough to enable a single Feurfaust to tear every dropship in service apart, no matter from which side it attacks. This has already been proven when a Feurfaust engaged and destroyed a Leopard-C mech transporter on it's own, and shot down two Clan omni fighters which were supposed to protect the dropship before it returned to the airfield. It took more than one day for the techs to peel out all the bullets, missile fragments and tips of the autocannon warheads that had struck the fighter, and yet none of the hits even remotely endangered the feurfaust or it's pilot.

Thrust vectoring has no effect on a common Aerotech/BattleSpace game, and it's not necessary. This thing can soak up damage all day. Add some guarding aerospace units to the mix, and the fighters defending the warship/dropship have the choice to either engage the Feurfaust and risk being torn apart by it's guardians, or deal with the guardians and probably have no place to go afterwards.
....Okay, there seems to be a mis-communication happening here. If the thing handles like a brick, the defenders just have to slot in behind it and pound away at the rear armor and engine. Regardless of guardians, so much armor mass on the front, wings, and the cockpit, that's some thin-assed rear armor. Pun intended.
Have fun going through 70+ points of armor.
And the handling like a brick only applies to a flight in an atmosphere, not in space where you can bring the vector and maneuvering thrusters to bear. the Feurfaust was designed to fight in space, not in an atmosphere, it's just capable of taking off a planetary surface. If a dropship already managed to enter the atmosphere, it can drop it's cargo from medium to high altitudes, and then you got other things in mind rather than attacking and destroying an empty dropship.

In a standard Aerotech game, a RAC is fixed to six rounds per shot, and 4 shots WILL definitely hit (there is no roll against the missile-table in an Aerotech table-top game unless all players agree to do so). Additionally, every ammo-dependent weapons must be equipped with enough ammo for at least 10 turns (in case of the RAC/5 this means 3 tons). That's the basis for the rule that ammo expenditure on fighters is not recorded during a standard aerotech table-top game (unless all players agree to do so).
Well, in this case you see a problem evn though there is none: :)
In an Aerospace table-top game, ammunition expenditure is NOT recorded unless all players agree to do so (which usually only occurs if the game is part of a larger campaign or if the players want to include advanced ressource management). and seriously, how often do you have to commit an alpha strike against a target using ALL 4 RACs? Unless you plan to engage and destroy a whole dropship fleet with just one fighter, of course. xD
