The 'Goddess', during the early festival
I sort of began this with a study of 'curvy' and 'swirly' shapes that ended up with a design I liked to the point of making it a recurring character, and eventually made a whole collective setting about.
While she doesn't quite have a distinct name, everyone refers to her as 'the Goddess', being a powerful entity who protects a secluded village.
The lore is that she was a kitsune that defeated a pufferfish demon when she just acquired two tails, and in its dying breath placed an incredibly predictable curse for a fetish OC.
The "Fūsen no noroi", or Balloon curse, permanently inflates her to enormous proportions, though with the help of wards and a protective belt, she could retain her old form.
But as she got more tails, the curse integrated with her, eventually overpowering any ward she could place. But she turned her own curse around into an advantage, as her powers could not only manipulate it, but she could instill this curse into other beings quite easily.
Turning every enemy in her path permanently into balloons, she rescued and eventually settled in a village which worships her as a goddess to this day.
This village holds a festival every year dedicated to her and her powers, she can harness this annual worship to make her warded belt strong enough to deflate back to her old self, partaking in the village festivities. She slowly swells back up during the event as the belt grows weaker, eventually the festival's end is marked when the belt finally pops and she floats away. The villagers release balloons with their wishes tied below them soon after, their goddess returns to her temple to wait for next year.
