It's a good effect, I agree. It gives each card a softness that's hard to match otherwise. It also helps give a personal twist to my tarot, I believe. ^^

The Magician aspires to be all he/she can. Each tool is laid out for the magician to aid him in each step of mastery in the work. The diagonal line represents the spirit which enables him/her to unite the inner and outer worlds, God's domain and man's. His robe is hidden but looks as if it extends beyond the image to deeper hidden realms.
Over the head there is the infinity symbol ∞ and below it, usually as the magicians belt an Ouroboros, another sign of infinity, creating distinction but no separation of the upper and lower worlds.
