Young Sarah Ellison was always fascinated by magic ever since her mother had hired Gordis the Great to her sixth birthday party. Since then she wanted to be a true magician, despite her family's opposition and everyone telling her magic was not nor would it ever be real. Sarah didn't believe them. She learned every trick, tried every illusion and when she was old enough ran off to become a stage assistant to the self-titled Torgo the Terrific; he being a bum manager but the only one willing to give the young tigress any work.

With every year that passed Sarah's hopes in discovering true magic faded until she was finally out on the streets when Torgo's drinking habits got the better of him, leaving her with nothing. With the last bits of money in her pocket Sarah readied to return home before stumbling upon a mysterious magic shop that seemed to appear from nowhere. The shop owner, a yellow-faced baboon, offered the young woman a simple trinket: an eye shaped medallion known as the Eye of Artukar, apparently housing great and terrible power within. Without much faith left she decided to buy it, that night discovering that the medallion did indeed possess great, magical powers. Finally, Sarah had discovered true magic....but at a cost.

As such great magical power from such a dark source required occasional sacrifices, Sarah would often seclude and entice others to her for offerings to the Eye of Artukar. In some cases they were her own assistants that outgrew their use to her. In exchange she performed incredible feats that baffled her audiences and shocked her agents, leading her further and further up the food chain to becoming one of the world's greatest magicians. Taking the stage name Elysia the Illustrious, the world saw a beautiful and talented master of illusions when in truth she was a servant to darker forces. She did not care though, as long as it earned her fame and fortune while providing her with powers beyond any others, who cared about the cost.
