Beaver and Bloodhound, Artistic Angst, Sketchy B & W Pic :)
This started out as a pen doodle that I did during a game of Stage II (a little-known Trivial Pursuit-type game that involves writing things down). I usually don't try to turn pen doodles into anything resembling a finished piece of art, but there seemed to be some emotional genuineness to it. I tried to keep the sketchy quality of the original pic, even though I altered it in Photoshop.
Remi Vitoux the beaver, who often represents my obsession with creativity, here expresses some artistic angst for me, while his friend Iris Deck the bloodhound tries to encourage him.
Lately I've been frustrated with an illustration for my children's book project that is taking forever due to numerous revisions to the design of a main character, and it's STILL not finished. The idea was also that I could be a little "looser" than usual with this pic because it's sketchy anyway - though as I mentioned, I wound up revising it a lot too! :)
You can see just how much by looking at the original sketch:

The background is a photo taken in Arroyo Grande, CA by my mother. (I changed it to black and white for this pic).
Iris is supposed to be wearing a sweater. Someone thought that it looked like she had a hairy body. But hey, if you want to look at that way, that's fine with me :).
Also, don't worry folks, more hot muscle art is also in the works :).
