This wonderfully done piece is done this time by   Cultro who did a fantastic job in bringing this part of the story into an illustration based on the story bit I told them this is their interpretation. Sadly though between the last one and this I don't have any other pieces to illustrate the story so I'm going to give a brief rundown and just point out the highlights leading up to this moment.

The main story bits leading up to this
After raising Tala for awhile Zorrena, Roxy, and Mof all begin to gain more trust and respect in town and befriend Maya a snake woman who is the local town magic healer, Edward a avian man who is the leader of the town guard, and Ember a sentient slime girl with a magical penchant for setting things on fire.
Tala amazed by the use of magic tries to learn but can't so she devotes herself to becoming an alchemist to compensate becoming quite good at it.
Some of the townhouses outside of the walls begin to report hearing noises at night and soon come under attack from various forms of monsters causing them to retreat behind the walls and a few riders leaving for the capital to ask for military help.
Edward recruits Maya, Ember, Zorrena, and Roxy to help keep the town safe from attacks and Tala begins to focus on experimenting on the bodies they can bring back as well as learning how to counter the various poisons they secrete.
Zorrena trades her axe for a warhammer as she notices that cleaving the monsters in two doesn't always keep them down but smashing them tends to be enough to stop them most of the time.
After a month of no word from the military and the attacks on the town growing worse everyday they decide to use Mof to scout where they are coming from. They all climb aboard Mof as he flies them to a clearing in a forest where they had seen the monsters coming out of the woods nearby and since the attacks always seemed to come at sundown to sunup they went at noon assuming the monsters had a distaste for sunlight.

The story of this scene Zorrena's sacrifice/Final stand
After landing in the clearing everyone disembarked from Mof's back and began to check their surroundings. After making sure everything was ok and that there didn't seem to be any in the area they set Ember to stay behind with Mof as they explored further. As Tala, Zorrena, Maya, Roxy and a few other guards explored the forest they eventually found what seemed to be an area of the forest where various symbols were hanging, glyphs of various kinds carved into the wood of the trees. Edward believes that if they follow the markers it could lead them closer to whatever is causing the monsters to appear so they continue farther.

However after walking for awhile Roxy tells them "We need to stop and leave right now I have a terrible feeling in my heart that we need to leave." To which Edward scoffs "An uneasy feeling is nothing to worry about let's continue on". One of the guards turns and responds "sir I agree we need to go I haven't heard any wildlife or signs of life in quite Awhaaaa!" the end of his sentence turning into a scream as a monster swings down from the tree he was under and pierces his shoulders with hooks that have been grafted onto it's arms and throws him into a tree as he falls into a heap unmoving. Suddenly various monsters begin to come from all directions in front and on the sides of the group as Maya begins to step back shaking at seeing so many the ground under her falls out from under her as several large tentacles come out. Zorrena smashes the tentacles with her hammer as a guard helps pull Maya up and Edward yells for them to retreat immedietly. As they turn to run still more come and another guard gets taken as another tentacle monster falls out another tree on him and begins to rip her apart as this happens Zorrena realizes it looks similar to Tala and must be one of the villagers from her original hometown.
Eventually they arrive back to the clearing however they find Ember already using her flames to try and keep the monsters at bay but she is already showing signs of exhaustion as she is losing the flaming colors she usually has.
As they get to the halfway point a tendril with a spike comes flying and pierces Roxy's thigh causing her to fall. Zorrena stops seeing her closest friend fall down and turns back for her. Roxy yells for her to go and begins trying to pull out the tendril when suddenly she is pulled back as a long tendon is connected to it and as she follows where it leads a massive beast with its maw gaping open and the tendon looking thing leading inside it. She begins to panic and screams throwing all the spells she can as she gets dragged back towards the beast and the horde of monsters. Zorrena finally catches up to her and grabs the tendon and tendril and brutally pulls them apart causing Roxy to scream in pain. Edward, Maya, Tala, the last guard, and a barely concious Ember climb onto Mof's back and he begins batting monsters away with his wings and legs as he keeps glancing back at Roxy and Zorrena as they are surrounded by the horde. "I hope you'll forgive me for this" Zorrena says to Roxy as she gives her a hug then quickly rears back and throws her as hard as she can at Mof where he catches her dress with his mouth. "GO MOF GET OUT OF HERE AND TAKE CARE OF THEM!!" Zorrena shouts and motions for him to go and with a final glance he beats his wings and takes off into the sky as Tala yells for Zorrena.

As they fly away back to the town Zorrena decides to take out as many as she can as the horde is surrounding her and she has noway to escape intact.

Again I'm not a storyteller really or a writer but I hope to someday find someone who can help make this into an actual story of sorts.
