Pencil sketch commission for
duraluminwolf of his pilot, Sophia, an Ibizian Hound.
I did about 5 character study sheets of her. For some reason I really struggled with her elongated snout. Every time it seemed to throw her whole face off tilt so it took awhile to decide what view of her would be best. Normally I don't have problems drawing long-faced, slender dogs, but Ibizian Hounds and Pharoah hounds are interesting in that they have really long muzzles but instead of stream-lined heads like most long-faced breeds, their heads are pretty thick and round, so it was difficult to get a look I liked.
Anyway, I hope it turned out passable.

Passable?! That's bloody brilliant! You've got her down to
a T. I especially love the flowing hair.
I know what you're saying about Ibizans, though.
Their faces can be really awkward to draw'
when I'm drawing any canine character,
I have a habit of drawing their muzzles
too long. It helps me to draw using
reference relevant to the breed i'm
drawing.
