Major was originally a human elite soldier on Planet Zekko. When he was around 38, he got sick, and no matter how hard the doctors tried, they could not figure out a way to help him: his heart was affected by an unknown disease.
His health kept deteriorating, until someone met him in the hostpital. He was then offered to participate in a special program for Vault Foundation, a company that was specialized in robotics and cybernetics.

As he was dying and had nothing to lose, he accepted. Soon after that, his heart was enhanced with various alien materials, and placed in a new robotic and stronger body. His consciousness and brain were also preserved and transfered with neurolink technologies.
As mentioned in the contract he signed before the project started, he was now meant to work as a mercenary for Vault Foundation, along with others like him (Colossus and Str1ker, an upcoming character).
