If I may ask, how do you formulate color? :O

I usually make a whole pallets from the ref sheet before I ever start, including lighter and darker shades from those base shades I get. Then I lay them around the ref sheet with numbers where the correspond ;^; Though lately the last year or so I`ve been getting a lot better at learning what can be what :3

it also helps that I`ve been using the same program forever and I pretty much have every colour setting in SAI memorized ;A;

no but seriously, i can see this done in frosting on a b-day cake. the lack of lines is rather different to your original style, but it makes it more vibrant, the colors really stand out.
