Well, it's been a while since I've done another piece, and whilst I was working on a Straight Ally Bust Shot before, I wanted to jump back to doing a full body, whilst also working on getting a frontal view of Kili's head in the process. It basically combines some ideas, bits of inspiration and techniques from the last few pieces to go ahead and work on my own style. I've decided to start applying some anime traits to my approach, namely the blush markings! I've also worked on the gradient trick, my approach with thin lines, subtle backgrounds, borders and pronounced shading. I've toned down the highlights, as I felt it would be superficial for this image. I've also tried using my previous art as reference material as well as a pose generator to help me out with bodies, which remain a bane for me.
As for the character? Well it's Kili again. IC? He's wearing a civilian copy of a specialised uniform for formal events/training that someone can fight in a pinch with, at least until they get some proper kit in which case, they can get changed quick. In this form though? We can all tell it's just an oversized hoodie with short shorts! It's just a design I've been digging for a while now, it's pretty mascaline but also pretty androgynous too.
Very happy with how this came out! I'll be doing an alternate version of this with a regular background so we'll see how that goes as well!
Note: This piece was done with the aid of JustSketchMe, a program that helps generate antanomical poses. Great for those wanting to learn, need help with more difficult poses or just plain suck at drawing humanoid bodies and need something to get you started!
