I admit, I haven´t rade the book either, just one or two chapters about Sun Wukong fooling arround with the gods, what led to his capture and arrest under a huge rock.
I only know the name of the pig, which is Zhu Bajie and the monk was named Sanzhang (I guess^^;) I only rade the summary on wikipedia
The guy to the top left is some kind of water demon, in the japanese version a Kappa and there should be a dragon horse too. (most of the other characters were once humans, fallen under a spell)^^
Maybe I will find the book itself one day and then I will read the entire story^^

Doch, manchmal schon. Hier würde man auch die feineren Linien der Grundskizze sehen, aber beim Scannen manipuliert das Programm das Bild dahingehend, dass die Bleistiftstriche, die stärker aufgetragen wurden, dunkler erscheinen, während die helleren Striche verschwinden. Ich glaube, das ist die Autokorrektur, oder so was in der Art
Even if not overly familiar with the characters aside from Sun Wukong, as I've only really read the wikipedia page on 'Journey to the West', with your artwork the viewer can always get a good feel for the personality of a character and imagine the stories that could be told with them. One day I'll hopefully get to read more of Journey to the West for myself. Until then, I can easily visualise them as you've portrayed them here.
