I wanted to draw a strange and ugly anthropomorphic creature. This doesn't come from any real culture but she looks as though she could have been.

Yes, she does have a vulture head :P A griffon vulture.

Actually, she manages to look naturally regal and proud, even a bit noble. She doesn't look ugly to me, more stern - like she knows vultures are considered distasteful but also knows how important her role is. Also, the idea of a vulture-griffin is new to me, and awesome.

For being "a strange and ugly anthropomorphic creature", she's surprisingly attractive. XD

It would probably be more surreal in color. Vulture coloration is what really sets them apart. :)
