Introducing Shard, a cougress from the Black Lake.
I've created a canon around my anthros with normal looking fur and latex skin as pertaining to a fantasy setting. Below are some notes I wrote down to explain the lore behind it.
Shard has left the black lake village in order to study exotic life abroad. She hopes to gain a better understanding of biology in her fantasy world, as well as gain a better understanding of her own creation and other "immortal" life.
As the species description gives, she can change different body parts and gender. Meaning she could change into a male, a herm, etc, and grow wings, horns, tail mouth, hooves, etc., so long as she's 'consumed' a creature that has those parts, and can add any variations of said parts that she's consumed.
This lore backstory explains away a few of my character's unique black skin trait and makes them have a neat reason for existing.

The creatures of the black lake.
There's a lake in a cave in a far away frozen mountain that Is made of black goop.
Animals that are dipped in it feed the lake, and over time it creates creatures that resemble anthros with shiny black skin. Their tongues often resemble tentacles or are longer than their birth species counterparts.
The anthros resemble the animals dunked in and consumed by the lake and even sometimes makes hybrids.
There was a tribe around the lake that eventually evolved into a small village that lives in secret.
The anthros can shift their shape by morphing their body parts into masses of writhing black tentacles, that come from their orifices, but can use more energy to do it with their whole body.
In order to shapeshift, they need a high amount of energy, and have a high metabolism and need for food if they plan to change their shape.
They can consume other creatures or anthros by unhinging their head into a tentacle mass and consuming them whole. Doing this, they can 'learn' their anatomy and change their bodies to match their prey's, at the cost of energy, time, and focus.
If they eat enough dragons, they can turn into a dragon over time, or just grow their parts like horns or wings.
They crawl from the lake in a late adolescent age, generally around what's perceived as 15 or 16, never experiencing a childhood.
They don't age beyond early adulthood, but can be killed or easily starved.
Their age reflects the youth of their diet though.
If they only eat old people, they could get old and die.
Because they can only eat meat, they usually resemble carnivores.
They can shift their organs like they can shift their bodies, but stabbing the heart or brain can kill them, especially if they're tired.
Their ability to morph parts into tentacles means they can form parts of their bodies around things. Which means they could open their chest to "store" things, or of course easily swap out body mods without any issue.
Opening themselves up to 'consume' other creatures involves their head and upper torso morphing into a mass of black tentacles that grabs the creature and pulls them into themselves, where their body devours them whole.
Their anatomy functions as the form it is in, but can transform into tentacles at will at the cost of energy, meaning they can eat food as normal, and digest it through organs, or simply shred and dissolve it by transforming themselves around their 'food' at the cost of consuming more energy.
Transforming is a skill in itself that must be mastered over many years, and can become more efficient at it, transforming limbs into tentacles with less cost to one's self.
As they have control over their tentacles, they can use them with partners, if willing to do so.
When morphing into tentacles, whatever clothes or jewelry they are wearing on the transforming part is either cast away, torn, or slipped out of.
They're able to reproduce with other anthros, but their offspring will not have the shapeshifting ability unless it's with another full blooded lake creature.
Any hybrid offspring of the full blooded ones can be "offered" to the lake, where it may consume them, or give them full abilities, though it takes a few months of being submerged to the bottom.
On a 65/35 kill to live ratio
Normal anthros are always consumed, keeping the lake alive
The lake has a mind of its own and grabs things with tentacles that are made of it's latex goop.
