Born after the death of her father and the supposed death of her older brother, the last cub of Mufasa and Sarabi was raised during her formative years under the reign of King Scar. An era retroactively referred to as "the Shadowlands" for how bleak and dark it was. Her fiery spirit, strong will and uncanny resemblance to her father and brother often earned Princess Shani the ire of her uncle, the King. It was the aggressive protection of her mother, her brother's best friends Nala and Jabari, and the pride that saved her time and time again from the worst of Scar's wrath. However he did resolve to make her life as miserable as he could. Yet for all his effort?

He failed. At every single interval.

Upon Simba's return, he and his younger (but not so little) sister immediately connected and forged a deep, close bond with one another. Shani went on to form a new era of the Lion Guard alongside jabari as its co-leader, and became known across the Pride Lands as a beacon of home and incorruptible optimism.
