The emotions in this piece are actually quite effective. I like how well her body language matches up with her expression, and reinforces her shyness. Her jacket and shoulder bag add nice little touches to it, too. At the risk of reading too much into it, they kind of make her look secretive, if that's not too harsh a word to use. Like she's got something she isn't ready to let the rest of the world see, even if it's just who she really is.

Or maybe that's just all graduate school nonsense, and not what you meant at all. Either way, it really is a cute little picture.
