Haha! Normally it takes me eons to bring out another drawing but I had such a burst of inspiration that I got TWO in the same month! >:3
So what is this? Well, it's not a character drawing per se, moreso a depiction of a piece of the world that all my characters live in. Most of my OC's live in a big mansion together, but Raickon here is such a colossal beast that I figured it'd be more appropriate if he chose his own napping spot. I settled on a place deep within some mountain territory. And as some of you guys might notice, this is my first time ACTUALLY trying out shading. I kept it as simple as possible and I think it looks alright. However, the reason Raickon's right horn looks so good in particular is because my amazing pal
LadyJulie was there to help me out once again by showing how she would shade it. And I simply followed along with her illustration!
There's actually a good bit of lore I made up for this place, but feel free to skip this paragraph if you're not interested:
Raickon is among my most powerful characters and smaller, weaker dragons worship him like a god. For good reason because he basically is one. Or at least, he is capable of challenging them. In the story, Raickon is the only creature capable of breaking the evil god Sacra's external shielding, which happens to take the form of a spectral dragon. However, Raickon is perfectly aware of how powerful he is and has taken his gift to be...kind of a brat. He can sleep for several hundreds of years before opening his eyes and is also an incredibly deep sleeper on top of that. But Raickon is not void of morals, he knows the world might need him one day. However, he IS a massive asshole because in order to wake him up, one must perform a ritual that takes 2 entire days to perform and is incredibly difficult to pull off correctly. Not only that, but Raickon might decide to kill his Waker if he thinks their pleas are not worthy of his strength. This ritual is so complex, in fact, that a small handful of monks have dedicated their lives to mastering the ritual so they will be able to wake up the dragon if they need him, or teach this ritual to future generations. They live in a set of Pagoda's nearby the rock where the ritual must be performed. There are pathways that allow someone to get to the Stone of The Waker's Ritual, but it's treacherous and there are always other dragons flying around, looking for prey. Simply getting to this destination requires incredible hiking experience and alpine climbing skills. One wrong step and you'll fall into the foggy valley or get snatched up by an oversized, hungry lizard.
