In the original story, [Gift of the Water God], Gloria (The Goat) was unable to have Children. (Portrayed by an empty Cradle and her prayers to the Gods)
Alexander was able to provide her that miracle in the original comic. The original comic was basically done without any words, being a case of "Show, don't tell".
The Chapter being called "Mortal Dread, Mortal Love", implies that Gloria may have also been unable to have children without Alexander's help.
