He's in the works! X3
This is a little peek at how I make my patterns. You can see my Model Magic dummy on top of the box. I start with this by making a simple sculpture of the character. I then cover it with masking tape, draw on the outline of any markings and note any areas where there must be a seam, then cut of the tape into flat pieces (which are stuck all over the desk XD).
I then transfer the tape's shapes onto paper, and tape it together to make what I call the "paper plush." This is a test to make sure that the pattern creates the desired shape and that all of the pieces fit together. I trim and add paper wherever it's necessary to make the pattern work.
That's what's done so far.
Next, I'm going to cut the "paper plush" apart back into its original (but altered) pieces. Then I'm going to be trying out a new step: Scanning the pattern pieces onto the computer and making them larger. Once that's done, I'll trace the new, larger pieces onto new sheets of paper for the final draft of the pattern.
I've been thinking of doing this new step for a while now. It'll save me clay, time, and money, because I'll be able to make smaller sculptures, which take less time to dry (big sculptures take FOREVER). Also, this could theoretically allow me to make HUGE plushies, which would be friggin' awesome. THE WORLD SHALL BE MINE >:3
