Ichthae/Libra - Suit Layers
// Following their contact with humans, the ichthae were quick to adopt at least the aesthetic display of clothing. Ichthae packs developed a multitude of ceremonial and status-based adornments fashioned from natural and artificial materials in their environment; functional garb such as harnesses or cloaks also became commonplace as the ichthae began making use of more complex tools salvaged from the Eden Project.
Modern ichthae make much the same use of simple, primarily aesthetic fashion. Being well-adapted to Virisa-II’s environment, they find little use for protective or thermoregulating clothing in most cases.
The primary exceptions to this are among those ichthae that cohabitate with humans more closely or engage in “outreach program” training. These ichthae not only make use of filtration masks in order to work around their atmospheric needs, but often find themselves in completely alien environments in which their nudity presents social and practical concerns – luckily, their human benefactors have developed ichthae-suitable variants of the exoepidermic nanosuits common among humanity. As with human nanosuits, the ones sometimes worn by ichthae consist of two possible layers: a form-fitting reactive underlayer suitable for casual wear, and a bulkier, protective overlayer designed for functionality. Ichthae nanosuits are often equipped with circulatory piping and filters designed to keep their skin and gills hydrated.
In addition to their obvious everyday protective qualities, ichthae benefit from the nanosuits as a means of avoiding bioreactive contamination of nearby humans.
